Our Story
NurseShift Africa exists because one nurse's search for what came after the bedside turned out to be a search thousands of others were quietly making too.
NurseShift Africa began as a community for African nurses interested in opportunities beyond traditional bedside nursing. What started as shared job opportunities and conversation grew, as it became clear the real gap wasn't a lack of opportunity, it was the distance between an opportunity and actually being ready for it.
Founder Chinanu Favour Echefu brought her own path into that work: clinical nursing experience, healthcare operations, talent coordination, and a growing focus on digital health and AI in healthcare. NurseShift Africa is the structure built around what she wished had existed when she was figuring this out herself.
NurseShift Africa is now a community of healthcare professionals across countries, including professionals across Africa and the diaspora. The community is no longer only about sharing opportunities. It is about helping healthcare professionals understand, prepare for and access the changing global healthcare workforce.
We run a free community, a paid Remote Work Ready Intensive cohort program, and we are building the infrastructure, data and relationships to connect prepared professionals with organisations creating real opportunity.

Founder
Nurse turned operations professional, with five years of bedside nursing experience and a background spanning healthcare operations, talent coordination, community building and digital health. Chinanu founded NurseShift Africa to help African nurses see, and reach, the opportunities that exist beyond the ward, and continues to lead the community alongside a growing team of volunteers, contributors and partners.
